Latest Azorra deal takes Embraer E2 programme past 500-order mark

Lessor will take another 15 E-195-E2s with a further 15 units covered by purchase rights.
Lessor Azorra has signed for up to 30 more Embraer 195-E2s – 15 firm and 15 covered by purchase rights – a deal taking the airframer’s total orders for the re-engined E2 programme past the 500-unit mark.

With the latest agreement, Azorra’s total firm E2 orders rise from 39 to 54 aircraft. It is the lessor’s third increase to its original order, dating from December 2021.

Azorra has now ordered 38 E195-E2s and 16 units of the smaller E190-E2, Embraer’s order and delivery data for the period to 31 March shows.

Embraer says more than 200 Pratt & Whitney PW1900G-powered E2s are now in service with 24 airlines. At the end of March – the most recent data available – the airframer had delivered 203 of the latest-generation E-Jets: 169 E195-E2s and 34 E190-E2s.

Additionally, the airframer had taken firm orders for 489 E2s: 424 E195-E2s and 65 E190-E2s. At that point, a further 317 aircraft (253/64) were covered by options and purchase rights, its order and delivery data shows.

“Azorra has been an important partner in the global success of the E2, and this latest order is another strong endorsement of the aircraft’s outstanding economics, performance and passenger appeal,” says Arjan Meijer, chief executive of Embraer Commercial Aviation.

“Surpassing 500 E2 orders is a proud moment for Embraer and reflects the growing momentum behind right-sized, fuel-efficient aircraft.”
