Mr. Ba: A “Wearable” Robot Helps Humans When They Fall #WearableWednesday

Mr. Ba, from the Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore, is called “wearable,” although in practice it looks a bit like a mechanical walker giving the user a hug. Still, this could be of great use to those looking for a robot friend to help them when they lose their balance. Here’s more from NTUsg:

Meet “Mr Ba”, short for Mobile Robotic Balance Assistant. It not only helps its users to sit, stand and walk, required for performing daily tasks, but also has a smart suite of sensors to detect and prevent falls. Built by a team of #NTUsg researchers from the Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore in partnership with Tan Tock Seng Hospital, MRBA can aid patients suffering from stroke, spinal cord injuries and brain injuries to regain their mobility and help them perform their physiotherapy exercises.
