Turkish plans new MRO site as it signs for Leaps to power latest 737 Max jets

Airline is ramping up its 737 Max fleet, having recently ordered 100 of the narrowbodies.
Turkish Airlines’ maintenance arm is to open a new repair and overhaul facility dedicated to CFM International Leap engines.

The plans for Turkish Technic were detailed as part of a wider agreement for Leap-1B powerplants to equip the carrier’s recently ordered Boeing 737 Max jets

Turkish last month ordered 100 of the Boeing narrowbodies and took options for another 50 which are exclusively powered by the Leap-1B.

In addition to signing a memorandum of understanding covering the engines for those aircraft, plus spares, the carrier has also contracted CFM to maintain more than 600 Leap-1Bs under a long-term agreement.

Engines covered under the deal include spares, those on 79 737 Max already in-service with Turkish and subsidiary AJet, and those on future aircraft, CFM says.

“The agreement will also bolster Turkish Technic’s engine maintenance capabilities, through the establishment of a new state-of-the-art facility, enabling Turkish Technic to deliver comprehensive maintenance services,” CFM says.
