Saudi regulator acknowledges injuries after latest assault on capital hub.
Operations Saudi Arabia’s capital airport, Riyadh King Khalid, have been suspended after the facility came under renewed attack.
The attack on 10 October resulted in “a number of injuries”, the extent of which is “currently being assessed”, says the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation.
It says the airport was the target of an attack which came amid continued hostile action aimed at civil aviation facilities in the kingdom.
“Airport operations have been temporarily suspended pending the completion of damage assessments and safety inspections of airport facilities, in coordination with relevant authorities,” the regulator adds.
Previous attacks, attributed to Houthi armed forces in Yemen, have been carried out at Riyadh airport and other sites in Saudi Arabia.
King Khalid airport’s operator has advised passengers to contact airlines to confirm flight status before travelling to the airport.
