Premium leisure carrier Beond withdraws European routes for summer

Premium leisure carrier Beond is suspending services from its European network to its Maldives base for the summer.
The carrier has not specified a reason for the decision, but it follows a sharp surge in aviation fuel costs which began in February as the Iranian conflict broke out.

Beond advised in March that it would be introducing a “fuel-related surcharge” on its flights, and it has also had to cope with the effects of regional airspace closures.

The carrier emerged towards the end of 2023. It specialises in luxury travel and operates Airbus A320-family aircraft to connect the Maldives with several Middle Eastern and European destinations.

But it states that it is “pausing” flights from European cities to the Maldives “through the summer”, intending to resume the schedule in the winter season from October.

The carrier is offering to rebook affected passengers on winter services or exercise alternative options.

Beond, which has a Maldives air operator’s certificate, lists Paris, Munich, London, Milan, Zurich and Moscow as cities on its European network. The airline also operates to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

It has previously disclosed ambitions to establish additional bases in the Middle East, India and the USA.
