Korean Air, Asiana to offer free Starlink Wi-Fi service

Both carriers are the latest in a growing number of airlines offering Starlink Wi-Fi service.

Korean Air and Asiana Airlines will offer its passengers free in-flight wireless internet service, though a partnership with Starlink.

The two carriers will begin operating aircraft retrofitted with the in-flight Wi-Fi service from 15 September. On Korean Air, it will debut on four jets: three Airbus A350-900s and a sole Boeing 777-300ER, while Asiana has nine A350-900s and a A330 fitted with Starlink service.

Both carriers will then retrofit the remainder of their fleet with the Starlink connectivity, targeting to complete installations by end-2027.

“Aircraft awaiting retrofit will continue offering the airline’s existing paid Wi-Fi service during the fleet transition,” the SkyTeam operator states.

Korean Air, which will integrate Asiana operations by the end of the year, is the latest carrier in Asia to offer Starlink in-flight Wi-Fi service. Zipair from neighbouring Japan already has Starlink service on its 787s.

Singapore Airlines, meanwhile, will introduce Starlink connectivity from 2027 on its long-haul A350 fleet and A380s.

Korean Air hails the installation of Starlink Wi-Fi as an “initial milestone in its broader fleet modernisation roadmap” as it moves to integrate with Asiana.
