Condor drops Dubai routes amid ‘challenging’ conditions

German carrier will focus on building its European feeder network through Frankfurt.
German leisure carrier Condor is discontinuing flights to Dubai from Berlin and Stuttgart this winter, citing “challenging economic conditions”.

The airline has also revealed plans to add three new European destinations next spring as part of a plan to build feeder traffic through its Frankfurt hub onto its long-haul network.

Condor says it will end its daily services to Dubai from Berlin and Stuttgart as part of its winter flight schedule.

“The decision comes against the backdrop of continued challenging economic conditions facing the global aviation industry,” says the carrier, adding that affected passengers will be offered refunds.

Condor intends to boost the number of destinations in its European network to 16 next spring, with the addition of flights from Frankfurt to Athens, Florence and Stockholm.

The Greek capital will be served daily throughout the summer from 28 April. Flights to Florence will also be seasonal, beginning on 6 May and operating twice-daily.

The Stockholm service will operate year-round with two flights a day from 13 May.

“By expanding our city network, we are making a targeted investment in the continued development of our hub at Frankfurt airport,” says Condor chief commercial officer Pierre Dominique Prumm.

Passengers will benefit from “seamlessly coordinated connections to our long-haul destinations”, he adds.

Condor’s long-haul network includes destinations in North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. The carrier received its first Airbus A330-900 at the end of 2022 and plans to operate 25 of the type by 2031. It is also modernising its narrowbody fleet with Airbus A320neo-family aircraft.
