Avianca, BOC Aviation enter into sale-and-leaseback deal

The new A320neos will be delivered in 2029.

Lessor BOC Aviation has entered into a sale-and-leaseback transaction with Colombian operator Avianca.

The deal covers 12 Airbus A320neos that will be delivered in 2029, and will be powered by CFM International Leap-1A engines.

The aircraft are likely from a wider commitment that parent Abra Group has for over 100 A320neos.

Avianca, which is an existing BOC Aviation customer, operates an entirely A320-family narrowbody fleet.

BOC Aviation chief executive Steven Townend states: “As aircraft production ramps up, pre delivery payment financing is becoming increasingly important for our airline customers. Our access to significant liquidity enables us to support our customers with transactions of this nature and add to our fleet of…A320neos.”
