Syrian Airlines unveils revamped colour scheme as part of post-Assad development

Flag-carrier shows off revised livery on A320.
Syrian Airlines has unveiled a revised identity, as part of the airline’s development efforts following the fall of the Assad regime.

The carrier showed off a modernised livery on an Airbus A320 (YK-AKJ) at Damascus.

It features a dark green scheme, a move away from the blue which had previously distinguished the operator under its Syrian Arab Airlines name.

The airline has been modernising its fleet – the newly-painted aircraft is one of a pair of A320s that the carrier recently stated it would receive this year.

Syrian Airlines has also been rebuilding its network, assisted by the easing of sanctions since former president Bashar Al-Assad was overthrown in 2024.

Other carriers are also being established as a result of the political shift.

Syria’s civil aviation authority recently granted an air operator’s certificate to FlyDar Aviation, which becomes the first private carrier authorised since Assad’s fall.

While it has still to detail its operations, the company says it is emerging as a low-cost carrier based in Damascus.

“We reaffirm our commitment to the highest global standards of safety and quality,” it adds. “We aim to contribute…to building and developing the air transport and cargo sector.”
