Multi-year agreement covers support for JAL subsidiary J-Air’s fleet of 32 E170 and E190 aircraft.
Japan Airlines has renewed an agreement with Embraer under which the Brazilian airframer will provide the airline with E-Jet aftermarket support.
The initiative provides the airline with maintenance and repair services, and access to an inventory of repairable components located close to its operations, ensuring quick access to critical parts and minimising disruptions, Embraer said on 21 September.
JAL subsidiary J-Air has operated E-Jets since 2008 to support regional connectivity across Japan. Embraer notes that the airline’s six-month service reliability average for the aircraft stands at 99.8%. J-Air’s fleet includes 32 E-Jets, among them 18 E170s and 14 E190s, according to fleet-data provider Cirium.
“Through this contract renewal with Embraer, we reinforce our commitment to securing high-quality components and, above all, ensuring the absolute safety of our flight operations,” says Yuta Kawaguchi, vice-president of material and component services at JAL Engineering.
Embraer Services & Support chief executive Carlos Naufel adds that the programme provides the “reliability, responsiveness and operational support needed to maximise the fleet’s performance.”
