It’s been a while since I’ve managed to find the time to work on the barn. It’s been a really dry summer, and that has added a lot of extra work around the smallholding. We’ve also had plenty of maintenance to catch up on with the cars.
With the rain finally here and the cars sorted, I’ve managed to get back to the barn and start making some big, long steel beams to span the 7.5m gap.
Originally, I was going to leave this section open, but I’ve decided to put sliding doors in to help keep the driving rain out. To do that, I need to span the gap, and for me the only practical option was steel beams.
So, I set about making some beams that will tie in with the timber construction for the other half of the building.
