Originally launched by Feadship in 1990, EMERALD underwent an extraordinary 16-month rebuild completed in 2023 that transformed almost every aspect of the yacht while preserving the exceptional build quality for which Feadship is renowned. Extended by 2.5 metres, completely redesigned inside and out, and fitted with modern engineering and technology throughout, EMERALD is a rare example of a classic yacht successfully brought into the modern era.
But the real story isn’t the specification – it’s the rebuild.
As David explains throughout this walkthrough, this wasn’t simply a refit. EMERALD was effectively rebuilt. From the moment you step aboard on the aft deck, the changes are obvious. The new staircase provides direct access to the bridge deck, the hull has been lengthened, and the entire aft deck has been opened up to create a far more elegant and spacious entertaining area. Throughout the yacht, the original interior has been replaced with a beautifully contemporary design featuring rich dark wood, marble finishes and a layout that makes far better use of the available volume.
One of the most significant additions is the extra main deck guest suite, positioned just forward of the owner’s stateroom. Together with four flexible guest cabins on the lower deck, EMERALD now accommodates 12 guests while remaining equally suited to private cruising or charter. David also highlights the many thoughtful design improvements, from the enlarged bridge deck and redesigned sundeck to the beautifully integrated cabinetry that replaces the original structural features without compromising the yacht’s character.
What makes EMERALD so special is that she still feels every inch a classic Feadship. The distinctive exposed scantlings remain, proudly displaying the robust Dutch construction beneath, while modern navigation systems, AV and communications equipment, upgraded engineering and zero-speed stabilisers bring her firmly into the present day. As David says, she is very much a "Feadship Remastered."
