China Airlines to acquire two additional 777Fs

The fresh commitment builds on a November 2025 order for six Boeing freighters.

China Airlines is to boost its freighter orderbook, with the acquisition two additional Boeing 777Fs.

The airline’s board approved the purchase on 26 May in a deal valued at around $876 million, according to a stock exchange disclosure. China Airlines did not disclose when the new aircraft will be delivered.

The additional 777F order is on top of an existing commitment for six Boeing freighters – comprising four 777-8Fs and a pair of 777Fs – that China Airlines announced in November 2025.

At the time, the SkyTeam operator said it was considering orders for an additional two 777Fs, in order to “replace ageing aircraft and improve operational efficiency”.

The Taiwanese carrier has 10 777Fs in its fleet currently. It also operates eight 747-400Fs, but is looking to sell four of these as part of fleet renewal efforts.
