South Korea’s T’way gets regulatory nod for name change

T’way in September 2025 announced its plans to rebrand as Trinity Airways, under new owners Sono Hospitality Group.

Low-cost operator T’way Air has gotten approvals from South Korean regulators to change its name to Trinity Airways, paving the way for an eventual revamp of its corporate identity.

The Seoul-based carrier on 15 May received the approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which has stipulated several conditions for the rebrand.

These include the establishment of measures “to prevent customer confusion” of its rebranding, as well as the maintenance of a “safe operating system”.

In addition, T’way will also have to secure licensing approvals from international regulators. The carrier does not state which regulators it is applying to, but says it is doing so “given the nature of our international air transport business”.

While it awaits international clearance, T’way says its flights will continue to operate under its current name and branding.

T’way in September 2025 announced it will be rebranded as Trinity under new owners Sono Hospitality Group. T’way’s current red, green and white colour scheme will be changed to a neutral colour palette aligned with the Sono corporate identity.

Sono in February 2025 emerged as the new owners of T’way, after successfully acquiring a 46% shareholding in the airline from YeaRimDang Publishing and related parties.
