In this vlog I dive into one of the biggest shifts in modern yacht design: the rise of the beach club — that sea-level leisure space built into the stern that creates a direct connection between the yacht and the water. Over the last 15 years, beach clubs have gone from a clever idea to an absolute must-have, and today builders are working harder than ever to create genuine “waterfront real estate” on board.
I explain what actually qualifies as a beach club (and what doesn’t), how designers create them by opening up the transom and folding out sections of hull, and why the very best examples feel like a private beach… while floating offshore. We also look at the design evolution: from simple fold-down platforms, to drop-down balconies that transform the footprint, to open-style beach clubs, floodable garages where tenders can drive straight in, and even beach clubs lit by glass-bottomed pools above.
